Dean’s Staff Excellence Award
Each year, The Dean of the Faculty of Education calls for nominations for an award for staff excellence. This award recognizes excellence in staff service and support within the Faculty.
This year LLED’s Administrative Manager Lia Cosco was awarded the Dean’s Award for Staff Excellence at the Tea with the Dean event on Tuesday, May 19th 2015.
Congratulations Lia!
Lia will have her name engraved on the Staff Excellence Award plaque, located in the Neville Scarfe foyer.

LLED Welcomes Dr. Andreea Cervatiuc
Dr. Andreea Cervatiuc is the recipient of the 2013 TESOL Award for Distinguished Research from the TESOL International Association and of the 2009 International Award for Outstanding TESOL Article from the International English Education Research Association. She was a featured speaker at the 2013 TESOL International Convention in Dallas and the keynote speaker at the 2013 TESOL International Doctoral and Graduate Forum.
Dr. Cervatiuc is an experienced TESL Instructor who has demonstrated excellence in teaching and course design. She has taught 36 graduate and undergraduate courses in the Werklund School of Education (formerly Faculty of Education), at the University of Calgary. In recognition of her outstanding contributions in teaching, Dr. Cervatiuc received the Faculty of Education Teaching Excellence Award in 2013.
Dr. Cervatiuc has conducted research and published articles and books in the areas of ESL curriculum, language assessment, second language learning, and language policy.
She joins our department at an Instructor I in TESL.
